Overview:
Our parent company, Ultra Electronics is an $820M (US) corporation specializing in tactical systems, sub-systems and electronics for defense and aerospace products. As of June 2008, Ultra operates nine independently run businesses in the US, two in Canada and ten in the UK. Each business unit focuses on a unique tactical niche for defense, naval, avionic or tactical systems.
DNE Technologies, acquired by Ultra in 2004, has more than fifty-five years' experience with manufacturing tactical communications produts. Today, DNE manufactures unique products for a gradual transition to tactical all-IP networks. Our products provide the interface between serial legacy and IP network equipment, allowing a significant re-use of deployed devices, including deployed cryptographic equipment, to operate in a Net-Centric environment. See where we're deployed.
DNE products today enable our warfighters to:
- Minimize the impact of a Denial of Service (DoS) attack;
- Continue the use of deployed legacy serial equipment over IP networks;
- Extend drive distances of COTS equipment using tactical fiber;
- Guarantee delivery of critical information;
- Economize IP bandwidth in constrained and last mile environments;
- Secure a WiMax network with Transmission Security (TRANSEC).
Our History:
DNE Technologies, Inc. was founded in 1951 as
Stelma, which specialized in the design, development and fabrication
of data and voice communications equipment.
Located in Stamford, CT, Stelma became the leader in communication
technical control systems, and introduced its first FDM multiplexer
in 1966. In 1969, the company was purchased by Dataproducts Corporation,
the largest independent computer printer company in the world.
The company relocated to Wallingford, CT in 1977, becoming Dataproducts
New England. In 1978, the company introduced its first Time Division
Multiplexer. The company was sold by Dataproducts in 1992 and in
1993 it became DNE Technologies, Inc.
In 1998, DNE introduced its first network access concentrator, and today sells network access concentrators into many areas of the US DoD's tactical networks. Also in 1998, DNE introduced its first protocol converter. Today's protocol converters are nearly ten times faster and one quarter the size of our orginal unit yet remains the industry standard.
In July of 2004, DNE was acquired by Ultra Electronics, a group of specialist businesses designing, manufacturing and supporting electronic and electromechanical systems, sub-systems, and products for international defense and aerospace markets. We operate under a Special Security Agreement between the US Government and Ultra Electronics.
Today,
Ultra Electronics-DNE Technologies focuses on the design and development of
communication and switched network access products. DNE's 70,000
square foot facility allows research and development to work closely
with design, engineering, production and field service to manufacture
high-quality products which are well-suited to the changing nature
of communications.
In 1997, DNE was awarded ISO 9001 certification - a testament to
DNE's commitment to product quality and customer service. In 2003,
DNE continued that commitment by receiving ISO 9001:2000 certification,
a new set of standards which emphasizes the voice of the customer
as well as process improvement.
Used in Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom, and other critical
communication applications, DNE products continue to be reliable
and meet today's communication challenges in both military and commercial
applications worldwide. |
